My Dear Teacher;

Yours of the 7th ins'tEditorial Note: See F00051. at hand. It was so unexpected, it afforded me double pleasure. I was fully aware of the abruptness of my information to you, but it was unavoidable. because I knew nothing of Mrs Clarke's intentions until receiving a telegram from Mrs Sawyer announcing it. I then dispatched to you the evening of the same day, also, the same day (Thursday the 3rd) telegraphed Mrs Clarke that I would not endorse her at BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts. and had so written you. She received this dispatch the day she started,- for I sent it in the morning.

Mrs Sawyer has since written me that Mrs Clarke was at our house the Saturday previous to the 3rd instantAs Written:ins't and never intimated that she was going to the Normal Class of the 7th. and yet; as has been proven,. she had made her preparations to go. at that time. Mrs Clarke has been repeatedly remonstrated with for her actions toward the question, yes evil of Animal Magnetism.. She would profess to our face a belief in it, and then deny it to others. Mrs Sawyer and myself have always endeavored to help her, and show her that we only desired her good; but there is such a lack of honesty, that we could never depend upon her professions.

You may believe me that our great desire for all we send to you, is that they shall be honest and taught in the belief of Animal Magnetism, as the all of sin sickness and death.

Mrs Clarke had sufficient time to inform me of her intentions before starting for BostonAs Written:B- but concealed it, for reasons which she knew must have prevented her going. She knew she was not prepared to take the Normal Course.

I am sorry for her; and hope she may return with such an enlightened sense of Christian ScienceAs Written:C– S– that she will drop deceit, speak the truth and act in union with us to further the interests of the CauseEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science. in MilwaukeeEditorial Note: Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She has so continually poisoned the minds of others of my students,. violating the Constitution of the C. S. A. that it seemed a necessity, and for our safety, to prefer charges against her, but this is a painful task to perform. It is so difficult to discern God's direction at such times.

Of my work here, I can only add that I am trying to do the best I can for ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, for Christianity. I have given several public lectures and parlor talks, awakened much interest; and am demonstrating in healing with excellent results. I expect to continue my work here until I can leave a goodly number of students, who will continue the work- As yet no mind-curer's or others of that ilk are here, though the Evan's and Swarts literature is quite extensively sown.

Of course they put it forward that it is the first, and only Mental Science healing.

We have not neglected to undeceive many in that respect, placing "S & HEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy" in their hands as the best evidence. I am confident God will bless our labors here.

As ever sincerely.
