Editorial Title: Susanna L. Durant to Mary Baker Eddy, August 1, 1881
Author: Susanna L. Durant
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: August 1, 1881
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Susanna L. Durant on lined paper from Albany, Illinois.
Editorial Note: Durant is writing in hopes of a response from her "Eastern friends," as she is feeling forgotten by everyone back in Boston. She feels she must return soon but also says her patients are worried they will fail again as soon as she leaves. She says they want an experienced Christian Scientist to come and finish up her work. Durant says that if they will pay their expenses and board while there, she will pay their expenses back. She requests specifically that Eddy share this with Miranda R. Rice, Dorcas B. Rawson and Margaret J. Dunshee, as she thinks they have more success and experience than others. She's especially anxious that someone come since her brother is one of her patients and she feels his case is hopeless without more experienced help. She also writes that there is a wide field for Christian Science in Albany and a great deal of interest from her patients, particularly from a Mrs. Nevill. Durant hopes that someone will come soon or else she'll have to come back and find someone herself to come and help finish the work she has started.
