Your very welcome letterEditorial Note: See L05412 came to hand and as usual I felt better on receiving As Written: recieving it. you have a very happy faculty of saying just the right word in the right place.

I have run before the SerpentEx 4:1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee. Ex 4:2 And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. Ex 4:3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. Ex 4:4 And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: Ex 4:5 That they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee. my last time I am in no haste to make money that I cannot bide my time – and as you said in a previous letter when I am worthy to prosper I shall – for as the good BookEditorial Note: Bible says “God never sees the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread”Ps 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. , therefore I have no fault to find I only like a little light now and then when things get a little darkened – I do not think under the circumstances that I could make any improvement in my affairs by going to a new place – for as I understand the work has all got to be done in oneself whatever place I may be in can therefore make no difference – I was blind enough to think that way and I felt that if I got away from Boston and the Mal P – that things would be better with me but I found my mistake and now I know it don't As Written: dont matter where I am in locality but where I am in ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science is what solves the problem – I appreciate the need of some good workers in NYEditorial Note: New York, New York but to As Written: too start in so important a place as that many who had been longer in the work and consequently better fitted could easily be found. But speaking in a worldly way that being a married woman interferes a great deal with my liberty of action – I left my Husband for a period of six months to establish myself here and I made myself the subject of remark to some extent although my life was as transparent as the day, and my Husband would in no wise consent to another separation – Miss Brown being single might like to go – anything that I can do for you I would feel it a pleasure. and duty. and a small and poor return for what you have done and suffered for us – But I will tell you what I consider is the best thing we can do for you and the causeEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science which I look upon as the same is to heal and in such a manner that our work will stand the test of (time there is now) eternity and be so able to build on the rock of truth that when the storms come and they seem to be unceasing that our house will standMatt 7:24 ¶Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: Matt 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. Matt 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: Matt 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. Luke 6:46 ¶And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Luke 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: Luke 6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. Luke 6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. – that seems to me to be the right way – Sometimes my conscience has reproached me in this way that I was not talking ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science enough and then I have reflected that it was better to say too little than too much for “We are not to be known by our much speaking”Matt 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Matt 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Possibly I may be making the same mistake in this letter but you will pardon me I know for it is a comfort to communicate with you for you always understand me – and I can appreciate the fact that you always understand our exact position in the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science by communicating with them verbally or otherwise –
