Accession: 361.48.005
Editorial Title: Luther M. Marston to Mary Baker Eddy, October 29, 1883
Author: Luther M. Marston
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: October 29, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Luther M. Marston on embossed lined paper from Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Marston tells Mary Baker Eddy that he has thought of her very often and wonders how she and the Christian Scientists in Boston are getting along. He wishes he could be there with them. Marston desires to grow in the practice of Christian Science but feels his success will be limited if he stays in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He has considered trying to practice in Boston or in Worcester, Massachusetts. He has also thought of renting some rooms in Boston for the winter for himself and his mother. He knows that the mesmerists are working on his mind to try to discourage him, but he is still sound in his faith in Christian Science and in Eddy. Marston also realizes that Christian Science healing cannot be combined with other healing methods, and he specifically mentions spiritualism as being incompatible with Christian Science.
