Editorial Title: Luther M. Marston to Mary Baker Eddy, November 8, 1883
Author: Luther M. Marston
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: November 8, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Luther M. Marston on lined paper from Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Marston is replying to a letter (not extant) dated November 4, 1883, that he received from Mary Baker Eddy. He tells Eddy that he has seen Helena Wood Tottingham, who is not yet sure when she will take class with Eddy. He has not seen William T. Seaver lately and so cannot report to Eddy on Seaver's thoughts on taking a class. Marston knows some others who are interested in studying with Eddy but none would be able to do so until after Christmas. He adds that he hopes Eddy's next class will include people who are brighter and more intellectual than the ones in the class he took with Eddy. He would like to be able to converse with people who know more than he does. In the rest of the letter (dated November 9), Marston reports that he has now seen William T. Seaver and that Seaver told him of his plans to be in Eddy's next class. Marston writes of his desire to study with Eddy again, but finances are a problem. Eddy has offered to let him room with Calvin A. Frye while at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College, but he wants to know what arrangements might be made for him to stay there during the winter and spring months.
