Accession: 382.50.032
Editorial Title: Eldridge J. Smith to Mary Baker Eddy, February 16, 1883
Author: Eldridge J. Smith
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: February 16, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Eldridge J. Smith on lined paper from Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Editorial Note: Smith is responding to a letter from Mary Baker Eddy (not extant). He tells her that his business occupies so much of his time that he is unable to devote himself as he would like to the study and practice of Christian Science. He hopes to be able at some point to transfer his business into other hands and thus be free from having to give it his daily attention, and he will try to come to Boston to see Eddy in person. He also tells Eddy that his wife is doing well, and that he has recently spoken with Mrs. M. A. Hinckley, who would like to see Eddy. Smith wishes they could assemble a class in his area for Eddy to teach. He ends the letter by praising Eddy as a remarkable woman who can count on his support and love as she works to establish Christian Science.
