Accession: 402.51.009
Editorial Title: Albert B. Dorman to Mary Baker Eddy, February 20, 1884
Author: Albert B. Dorman
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: February 20, 1884
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Albert B. Dorman on his printed stationery from Worcester, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Dorman is replying to a letter (not extant) he received from Mary Baker Eddy, dated February 19, 1884. He is apparently willing to do some printing for her and would be happy to undertake it when Eddy furnishes copy and her requirements for the job. Dorman has sent Eddy a testimonial, thinking it would be valuable to her in knowing his state of mind, even if the testimonial never appears in print. Dorman has been giving Christian Science treatment through prayer to a patient who is deaf. There has been progress in the case, but in the last day or so, Dorman has felt some despondency and fear. People in his area have been making fun of Christian Science and he feels it would be of great help if people knew that this patient had been healed. In her letter, Eddy had asked Dorman for his middle name. He replies that it is Barnes, and that he was named for a Bible commentator named Albert Barnes. In a postscript, Dorman mentions that his young daughter has been having a problem with inflamed and swollen eyes and he is at a loss as to how to handle cases like this in his family.
