Accession: 496.55.011
Editorial Title: William James DeWolfe Leavitt to Mary Baker Eddy, May 5, 1882
Author: William James DeWolfe Leavitt
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: May 5, 1882
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by William James DeWolfe Leavitt on the lined printed stationery on which he advertises himself as a teacher of music and a concert organist. He writes from Boston, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Leavitt writes regarding an appointment with Mary Baker Eddy. He says that when he showed up at the designated time, she was not home, and he stood outside, shivering on the steps for about twenty minutes. He writes that if he knew how to practice the Science of "mind over matter," he could have caused her to return home. But since he does not know how to do this, he had to leave in about the same condition as when he arrived. He is leaving for Halifax, Nova Scotia, the next day and will be away until the Saturday following. While he is on the "briny deep," he hopes Eddy will keep his case in mind and do what she can to alleviate his suffering.
