Editorial Title: William T. Seaver to Mary Baker Eddy, October 29, 1883
Author: William T. Seaver
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: October 29, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by William T. Seaver on lined paper from Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Seaver tells Mary Baker Eddy of his experiences with persons claiming to be Christian Scientists but whom he concluded were only in it for the money. He mentions his own financial challenges due to supporting his large family. Nonetheless, he is studying Christian Science, teaching it to his children, and has brought about some cures through applying its teachings. He has a baby girl in the household who was born the previous March with Christian Science practitioner, Edward H. Hammond, in attendance. She is being brought up in Christian Science, has not had a drop of medicine, and is perfectly healthy. Seaver believes that all metaphysicans should support Eddy. He thinks it is wonderful how she has endured persecution. He mentions that he was responsible for bringing both Luther M. Marston and Levi A. Childs into Christian Science. Finally, he wishes for Eddy that she will remain on earth for many years, carrying on her work in Christian Science, never seeing death, and vanishing from sight in ascension.
