When I preached at the Hawthorne Rooms five weeks ago, a lady whose name I cannot remember, who said that she was employed on the Journal published by the Christian Scientists, borrowed my sermon, to make extracts from it for the Journal.
The sermon has not been returned, & I want to ask of you the kindness to remind the borrower that it is a manuscript which I am unwilling to lose.
I was very sorry not to accept your invitation to preach a fortnight or three weeks ago; but I was then confined to my bed by a severe illness, from which I am now happily convalescent. Excuse my troubling you in this matter; I know not how else to reach the borrower of my manuscript.
