Dear Mrs Eddy.

I have just received your circular forwarded from 791 Fulton St Chicago IllinoisAs Written:Ill, notifying me of the commencement of your next Primary class.

Perhaps you will remember that I called upon you, expecting to enter your November class, (which by the way was postponed) but learned that the admission fee was $300.Editorial Note: $300.00 in 1887 is the equivalent of $9,900.49 in 2024. instead of $200Editorial Note: $200.00 in 1887 is the equivalent of $6,600.33 in 2024. as I had been informed.

However you said to me, that when you formed your next Normal class if I would come and could pass an examination you would admit me.

It is impossible for me it do just as I wish. and I must do the next best thing. I wish to be thorough and sure . In demonstrating according to your instructions I have reason to believe that I have a fair understanding of this glorious Truth, and yet I have performed no instantaneous cures. With few exceptions my patients are afflicted with very, very chronic beliefs, but all up to this time with one or two exceptions are improving, and I entertain hopes for them. The surprise to me is that they are not healed in one treatment. Inasmuch as they are not, I know the fault is in myself, and not the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science.

I wish to make a specialty of demonstrating, and also desire to be competent to teach, if I wish .

I feel that it is only by demonstration that this science can prove to mortals the unreality of error.

God speed the day when all mankind will, like yourself, be blessed with spiritual understanding.

I should like to take a Primary course of you, and then the Normal; but as I said to you I am unable to pay $300, for primary lessons.

What do you think of my taking a course of one of your students here, and a little later enter your Normal class. I now expect to remain here until spring.

If you will kindly advise me in regard to this I shall be truly grateful.

Yours Sincerely.
C. C. Bigelow.
