Dear Mrs Eddy.

I beg pardon for the liberty I took in consulting you, for I see in your work that you have no time for consultation. But now I desire to beg a greater favor in behalf of our patient. Dr ShermanEditorial Note: Bradford Sherman or Roger Sherman told my husband this morning that he has failed to reach the case, that it has gone too far for him to arrest. But he will continue his visits for a short time so as not to discourage the patient.

Dear Mrs Eddy I have read the instances given in your bookEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy where you have healed from a distance, cases, seemingly as hopeless as this one. His disease (so called) is of a scrofulous nature, termed by the Prof. of the Chi. Homeo. CollegeEditorial Note: Chicago Homeopathic College - Lumbar As Written: Lumber abscess. An operation was performed nearly 4 months ago, when the decayed bone from the inner side of the Spinal column was removed. It had been discharging from an opening in front, and now there is one on the side, besides the one they cut in the back and all three are emittingAs Written:emiting a discharge of blood and pus accompanied with severe pain.

Now, am I presuming on your time and toil to beg of you a thought for him? His case is widely known in the Medical profession here as well as in WisconsinAs Written:Wis where he was treated first. He thinks the trouble was caused by a wrench he received 3 years ago. If his case can be healed through this ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, it will make a good many converts, among those who have never heard of it before, and among many who are skeptical in regard to it. I am reading and studying your works and am anxious to understand the Truth, that I may be able to demonstrate it as you do.

I am sure you would be remunerated, though of course money is not an object with you or you would not succeed as you do.

Is it possible that you have reached that attainment whereby you may heal such a case as this at a distance? I can scarcely wait to see it proven! Oh! you will do it if it is possible, will you not?

Yours in the Truth.
