My dear Mrs. W.

Immediately upon receiving your first letter I inquired of Dr. Frye about your manuscriptAs Written:ms. He said he had sent it to you, for you had asked Mrs. E. for it. I never saw this manuscriptAs Written:ms. at all so that I am in no way responsible and almost feel hurt at you asking me in that way for explanation, - but that would not be scientific would it? I fail to get many important letters & I am now troubled by that fact

truly your friend
