Accession: 593A.61.038
Editorial Title: L. C. B. Gault to Mary Baker Eddy, December 13, 1883
Author: L. C. B. Gault
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: December 13, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by L. C. B. Gault on embossed lined paper from Caldwell, Wisconsin.
Archival Note: See L17456 to read a transcription of this letter.
Editorial Note: Gault writes that she cannot visit Mary Baker Eddy because of her dire financial situation. She mentions her three young sons, which she needs to bring up and educate. Gault also notes that Mary E. Haggart of Indianapolis, Indiana, has been lecturing in the vicinity. She has shown interest in Eddy's publication, The Christian Science Journal, and has asked for Eddy's address. Haggart has the potential to get many subscribers for the Journal if her interest in Christian Science continues; however, she is booked for 100 lectures over the winter and so it's possible that she will forget to write to Eddy, and so Gault suggests that Eddy write to her over the holidays. Gault will also get subscribers for the Journal and hopes to sell copies of Eddy's book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. She encloses one dollar ($26.69 in 2017) for a copy of the pamphlet, Christian Healing, and a subscription to the Journal. She closes by expressing her desire to continue developing her own spiritual gifts and to be unafraid to use them. A notation on the letter states: "E will answer when you get a chance."
