my wife and I have been reading your books – Science and HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy – for the past few days with great interest.

Can you spare me the time to answer one question?

If, as the Bible tells me, all was perfect, and all was made in the beginning, and all was good; when, when and how did evil – error, originate? or that we as material bodies recognize in sickness, sin and death?

Where was soul first affected by error, or if it was never affected, why are we to “fight the good fight”I Tim 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. against error.

If you will explain the above to me – if it is not asking too much of you, – it will be a kindness as well as a help to

Yours Respectfully
Sam’l H. Gibbs.
