The meeting of the C., S., A.Editorial Note: The Chicago Christian Scientist Association was a branch of the Christian Scientist Association in Boston, Massachusetts. occurred todayAs Written:to day at 4 P.M with the election of officers.

Your telegramEditorial Note: This telegram is not extant. was read the first thing, by Miss Brown, and heard with the greatest regret by the whole Society, which expresses its sorrow that you can no longer be its honored President, and sending a unanimous vote of thanks to you for your kindness in serving in that capacity up to this time.

There were thirteen out of the fourteen members, present, besides Dr. Avery. Mrs. Coleman has not yet joined us although she has been to the meetings Dr. Avery was elected chairman, pro tem; Minutes of last meeting read and accepted, Mr. Morrill and Miss Brown made a few farewell remarks, their term of office expiring todayAs Written:to-day. Treasurer’s report read and accepted. The society then proceeded to elect officers for the coming year. Mr. Morrill made a few remarks to the effect that perhaps we could draw in more, if we had a man for President instead of a woman. But the society did not act on the suggestion, for Miss Brown was unanimously As Written: unanimouly chosen by an informal ballot as President for the coming year. An informal ballot was then taken for the office of SecretaryAs Written:Sec’y. Dr. R. Sherman was elected by a majority and afterwards a unanimous vote, but positively declined to serve on account of having no time- Mr. Morrill also wished to be excused on account of his many home duties. Mrs. Noyes was asked to take the office but refused. Another ballot was taken (Mrs. Noyes, Mr. Morrill & Miss Beecher being nominated) and Miss Beecher received the largest number of votes & was made SecretaryAs Written:Sec’y by unanimous vote. The office of TreasuryAs Written:Treas. was next to be filled. Dr. B. Sherman was unanimously elected, but refused, for lack of time, Mrs Smith was then elected Treasurer. The Society has directed the SecretaryAs Written:Sec’y to write to the Publisher of your Journal to see if we can obtain all the back numbers and to subscribe for it in the future, that we may keep them on file, in the Archives of the Society, for reference and for the benefit of the future membership. Meeting then adjourned to Thurs. Feb, 5,

Swarts began publishing a monthly periodical called The Mind Cure and Science of Life (later renamed Mental Science Magazine), which regularly published articles repudiating the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy., just issued. I need not remark upon it, for it tells its own story, I have found Mrs. Coleman more of an inspiration to good work
