I do not know you personally, but very well by reputation; so I trust you are my friend.

Now I wish to consult you about my sick Mother, who is afflicted with dropsy tumor As Written: trumor in bowels, inclined to right side.

The physicians say no cure, unless tapping. I cannotAs Written:can not believe that, until I hear from you, to see what your opinion is, of the case.

Her sufferings are these, cannotAs Written:can not keep food on stomach, nearly all of the time. Spits frothy matter, pain in right side, and in fact all over.

Very fleshy around bowels, but poor otherwiseAs Written: otherways. Her age is 59 last Aug. She has all faith in you and wishes to know, if you can do her any good, whatever, if she should come on to BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts-

She has read your books & papers, and believes in them.

Now I am coming to the point; can you cure her?

Will you please write me, as, soon as convenient, and tell me first all about the said case. I am very anxious, indeed, as something must be done soon.

Please state your bill in such cases. And if you can do any good, without seeing her.

Are there boarding places near you, where she could stop, if she came to BostonAs Written:B.
