DearAs Written:D'r Madam:

I am taking a paper from LafayetteAs Written:La. Fayette IndianaAs Written:Ind. (my wifes home at one time) A few weeks ago an Editorial appeared in it stating what he knew of the "Mind Cure" in that CityEditorial Note: Lafayette, Indiana, as learned from three ladies practicing there. Cures were spoken of as having been made there that seems very remarkable. I am slow to believe anything outside of the generally accepted theory of healing; Yet I was sufficiently interested, after reading that Editorial, to try to learn more of the Science of Mind healing and what it could do for me - I am an Epileptic. I wrote to Mrs. Elizabeth of Lafayette stating to her my disease and asking her if she could cure me, I remaining at home. She wrote me that while she believed it could be done, and had been proven conclusively to her mind, yet it was not her experience - she always saw her patient before giving treatment. If I can be cured then nothing can make me doubt. I have also had great trouble with my Liver but am much better of that than in former years. Could I be made well, then my highest ambition (if possible) would be to become a healer myself and thereby a blessing to the afflicted. Mrs Gormly gave me your name and address and I have taken the liberty to address you. You know what I want. I will be glad to have you write me. I have been a member of the Methodist EpiscopalAs Written:M. E. Church since I was a boy. I believe in the truth for it has made me free.John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Very Respectfully,
E. S. W. Lawrence
