Editorial Note: Poore writes to Mary Baker Eddy to express her gratitude for Christian Science. She
says that during the summer of 1883 she received Christian Science treatment through
prayer from Charles Osgood and was very much benefited by it. Osgood loaned her a copy of Eddy's book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and she became interested in Christian Science. Poore wanted to go to Boston to
study with Eddy but did not have the money to do so and also could not be away from
her family. She says that a lady came to New Hampshire and that she paid her to teach
her Christian Science. Since then she has treated members of her family with success.
