Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Frank B. Thompson on embossed lined paper from Barnet, Vermont.
Editorial Note: Thompson writes that he sent Eddy a letter the previous week, asking about the possibility
of taking class instruction in Christian Science with her. He has concluded that she
did not receive it and so is writing again. Thompson is eighteen years old and wonders
if he is old enough to understand Christian Science well enough to heal. Thompson
would like to enter a class with Eddy in the current month, but he would have to pay
her later as he is poor and would have to earn the money. (There is no evidence that
Thompson ever studied with Eddy.) A notation at the top of his letter indicates that
it was answered on September 3, 1883, but Eddy's reply is not extant.
