Have recently returned from WorcesterEditorial Note: Worcester, Massachusetts, where I met one of the graduates of your College, Dr. A.B. Dorman, and learned for the first time about this wonderful healing, (only I am not healed yet, and cannot forget that I have a body.) And I want to learn more about it. If it be true, that suffering humanity has lived for eighteen hundred years in sickness and despair, when they might have had health and comfort. It is indeed sad, but if now the “Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in his wings”Mal 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. Mal 4:2 ¶But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. Mal 4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts. and there is no need of all this agony, then indeed we have reached a grand era in the world'sAs Written:worlds history. “More wonderful it seems than all the golden fancies of all my golden dreams,”Editorial Note: This sentence is taken from the second verse of “I Love to Tell the Story,” a hymn by Katherine Hankey (1834-1911). And if such power is vouchsafed to us erring mortals I want it to become mine. Nothing would delight me more than to be able to relive the sick and suffering sons and daughters of earth. But I am in doubt and perplexity, A glorious future rises before me if I can secure this power of healing. But the query is can I learn it, what kind of persons does it take to become healers? And do you think Dr Dorman can teach the scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, and make it sufficiently plain for me to grasp it and become able to heal the sick.
I am dependent upon my labor for my daily bread, but it is always a pleasure to me to relieveAs Written:releive the sick in any way that I can. And if you can assure me thus I can possess this wonderful art, I shall make a great effort to learn it. But another doubt arises to my mind, I took a course of treatment of Dr Dorman, and I am not well yet. Perhaps the exact points that he touched on are some better, but since this heated period has commenced the top of my head has felt very badly, and does at the present writing, it is caused by the hot weather I think but if Dr. D. can produce “perfect harmony” in the body why this discord? I am afraid all who go to be healed are not cured, any more than by ordinary physicians, are they? Please do not think me impertinent I am only reaching out for the “truth”. If you can “show me a more excellent way”I Cor 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. I long eagerly to walk therein, and shall pray for faith, and divine guidance to be led aright. I am about to start out canvassing and shall try to get some subscribers for your paper so I can take it myself. I also want your book as soon as I can afford it, and I can scarcely wait for the time to come.
Indeed if I had only been “healed” I should not be quite so doubtful. So I come to you as the founder of this new scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science with my perplexities and I pray you turn not a deaf ear to my queries, but answerAs Written:ans me speedily if possible with all your other cares.
And you will confer a great favor upon one who is longing to walk in the Way.
