Accession: 724A.89.017
Editorial Title: Frances N. Wilbur to Mary Baker Eddy, December 10, 1882
Author: Frances N. Wilbur
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: December 10, 1882
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Frances N. Wilbur on embossed lined paper from Somerville, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Wilbur tells Mary Baker Eddy that she has become interested in Christian Science through reading Eddy's books and attending a lecture on Christian Science by Clara E. Choate. She is interested in studying with Eddy and becoming a Christian Science practitioner. She feels that doing so will give her a source of income with which to support her elderly parents and her husband, who is currently having financial problems. But, she adds that she would only be able to pay Eddy $50.00 ($1,261.48 in 2016) to attend a class. She moved to Somerville, Massachusetts, from Wisconsin, but she still knows many people in Wisconsin with whom she could share Christian Science. She is appreciative of all that Christian Science has done for her so far, and she has cured herself of several small ailments through applying its teachings.
