I read in your mind an illusion to which you must be awakened, namely, that those, who have departed from a sense of life here, control those who have not departed but are with us in the flesh.

The evil influence that is working against you, to which you alluded in your letterEditorial Note: See 092F.20.022., is instilling this thought in your mind. This illusion is a belief of spiritualism disguised, and it is as far from Christian Science in some respects as is MormonismAs Written:Mormanism.

Drop forever from your thought the spiritualistic illusion that I am your guiding spirit here or hereafter, for I am not; and you will sink the Principle of Christian Science in personality and ruin your scientific progress, if you continue to believe this lie.

The evil one and the one evil is continually at work on you endeavoring to fasten this hallucination upon your thought; and whatever of good or of evil, which you do under the influence of this belief, is simply self-mesmerism, engendered by hypnotism and its effects upon you.

Now, Augusta, awake from this lie! I am not personally influencing your life one particle. It is only my written word and verbal communications to you, which benefit you or can benefit you, for it is Truth and not personality that guides you aright.

Drop your lie of faith in my personality, or you will destroy your growth in spiritual understanding. Turn your thoughts utterly away from my personality and keep them away. Then you can fasten them on divine Principle and grow in the understanding of the divine Principle of ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, its rule and its demonstration.

When I last talked with you and Mr. Kimball, you were both floating into another dream. My talk helped you, and he has awakened and sees and has confessed to me his mistake in leaning on personality and so making it possible for hypnotism to misguide him.

You are never safely guided by personality, your own or anyone else's. I am not your guardian spirit here, and I shall not be hereafter. You have one God, one Spirit, and that God is your Guide, and that Guide is not a person but a Principle. Remember this, and never write to me again nor think again in any other direction, if you would save yourself from the fatal effects of hypnotism.

I am trying to get away from personality, and you are trying to fasten yourself to personality. Opposites cannot affiliate. You are taking yourself away from my teaching by this course, and I implore you to abandon the views, which you express in your letterEditorial Note: See 092F.20.022. to me, and be a Christian Scientist, for you never can be one on the basis that you predicate in your letter. Write to me immediately, and let our love for one another continue steadfast, established on Christian Science, on Principle and not on a person.

Neither man nor woman will ever get any help from the person of a man, or the person of Christ, or the person of God. All our help in time and eternity comes from the Infinite and not the finite, from the Principle and not the person.

It is sacrilegious to say that the Infinite is a person or that a finite person can do more for man than the Infinite which is impersonal--in other words, divine Life, Truth, Love.

I am praying and striving to escape from my own personality, while fools are following it and hounding my person only to hoodwink themselves and fetter my faith and spiritual understanding.
