Dear brethren in Christ,

I gave not up my intention of meeting with you to day until the latest moment, but circumstances have now decided the case and I must deny myself this great pleasure.

Where two or three are gathered togetherMatt 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. the promise of the Father's support and presence should comfort them.

To-day if ye will hear his voice, Ps 100:3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Ezek 34:31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God. clinging to the tender fold of your first home, where first you heard His voice calling you up higher, will be faithful, watchful and vigilant, while we go forth from the dear fold to meet the storm and tempest as lambs among wolvesLuke 10:3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Matt 10:16 ¶Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. , but trusting fully and meekly in Him who tempers the winds to the shorn lambEditorial Note: Allusion to a common proverb: “God tempers the wind to the shorn lamb.”.
