I think it is my duty to state to you that the complications in the election of a TrusteeEditorial Note: Trustee of The Christian Science Publishing Society occurred As Written: accured in this way. When Mr. Bates vacated I was asked to use my privilege of appointing a person to fill the vacancy, – and I at once appointed you and sent my appointment to the Board After a little I learned that the election had been delayed and it was thought not wise to have two clergymen members of the board I then withdrew my appointment and named Mr. Hatten to fill the place The objection could only be because we need the clergymen to fill more important places

Went to lunch and returned to a better bit – a letter from thee. Will tell you this – for I have read your letter before finishing mine - and then will add A lecturer in New EnglandAs Written:N. E. must not be forgotten! I suggest that you prepare a lectureEditorial Note: The editorial in the October 6, 1898, issue of the Christian Science Sentinel noted that Tomlinson delivered the first Christian Science lecture in New England, at The Mother Church, on September 28, 1898. with a view to giving it to the reporters and so make one answer for several places—

Take the questions uppermost in the public mind and answer them systematically in ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science. Mr. Kimball's method works well. When you get ready to be called let me know and the Directors will give you a call
