My precious As Written: pecious Student

I have waited, waited, to know As Written: knew what to do, or rather, what to say. Your offer is kind and I have no doubt of your growth indeed it cannot be otherwise. But I fear it is not doing right to discharge Maria She tries to do her best she thinks. I have no desire to live in the place of beauty that the Roslindale home is — a beauty unavailing in Christian Science

There is no retirement, no solitude, no quiet in it.

It is a hillside decked with flowers and ornamental trees and shrubs and luxurious fruit and garden, but the walks are so steep I cannot follow them, the arbor with call-bells from the house – tells of lager! The whole site is surrounded with streets. The piazza As Written: piaza goes all round the house but from every side you are saluted with noise. Washington Street coming As Written: cominging out of Boston passes by us within a few rods. I met a policeman one day. I spoke to him about the barking dogs — he asked me [*]Editorial Note: There is a large X drawn in the text here. [*]Editorial Note: There is a large X drawn in the text here. if I was Mrs. Eddy of Commonwealth Ave Boston? I said yes, and his hat came off instantly and was held till we parted

The man, Bennie bought of, said the Boston road Commissioners As Written: Comnissioners had refused to give him liberty to improve the entrance from the street of our driveway; but the Doctor saw them and when he gave them my card they said "we will attend to it at once" in two days, they fixed it all right. This does not seem much like Mrs Eddy being driven out of Boston, does it?

Give much love to all my dear Students I said "if I have any friends" in last letter this meant what the Scripture says viz. "The friendship of this world is enmity with God" Thinking of it, I feared you might not know what I referred to. Come and visit me whenever you feel like it

Ever yours with love
M B G Eddy

All send love to you. M B G E
