I deem it best not to send this letter by public conveyance You will get it MondayAs Written:Mond. by Doctor. Rev. Mr. Barrows has fought me, especially, since ever I published my works and he read them. I discern clearly that his willingness yea interest to have C. S.Editorial Note: Christian Science representedEditorial Note: Barrows was Chairman of the 1893 General Committee on the World's Parliament of Religions at The World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. rests on the understanding that by some movement those calling themselves expounders of this ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, such as Mason, Day, Adams, Gestefeld— can be heard and so let the people choose As Written: chose between the genuine and bogus C. S. In this case the trick of the disloyal will be to present the most enticing view of the subject and wind into it those fatal points in their opinions which absolutely annul the demonstrable Principle, rules and practice of Christian Science This would be the very worst thing for our CauseEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science.. The disloyalists would be liable to catch in their net the scholarly thinkers of our time, and the true scientistsEditorial Note: Christian Scientists— the Pagans This would delight priestcraft for it only waits opportunity to classify us thus and has striven to do it ever since my first publication of S. & HEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Beware! this is the underlying secret purpose for letting us into a public exhibition of our religion. Mr Bonney is not in their secret, but you now are, and forewarned is to be forearmed.

A select number only should be summoned to meet in Association preparatory, but even this act might work against us in the World's judgementEditorial Note: This is in reference to the World's Parliament of Religions at The World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. As part of the Parliament events, a Congress of Christian Science is eventually held in September 1893 under the auspices of the National Christian Scientist Association which had adjourned three years earlier..
