My dear student,

Yours receivedAs Written:rec'd. Am sorry for all the race. "All men are liarsPs 116:11 I said in my haste, All men are liars. " and what remains to be proved is if woman will improve this fact. I have a specimen to name. When I promised to give Mr. Bowers the right to copyright his drawing he showed me his sketch with two views on it, front and rear, and told me he would get out all the pictures on this plan. I thought it was so fine I would give him the benefit of giving me such a fine cut of my place. But after he took out the copyright he told me he should make some of the pictures with one view, and now that very many of my students are interested to have the pictures – it comes out that he has made the large pictures one view only, in one picture and some diminutive ones with both views. so he has three pictures for sale. quite a money-makingAs Written:money making scheme!

I consider the pictures of so little value that have written to him not to send me one it has no more on it than the sketch I have already sent out

With love
