Dear Mr. Howard

I send you only a line to ask what it means? I am in receipt of a letter this moment from Mr. Chase of Newburyport saying just this --

"I have just heard of good news, brought by Capt. Brown that you have got the Charter for the College"

Now please write me if that be true? and if not will you please write Geo W. Chase of Newburyport to not make that matter quite so conspicuous if indeed he it is that is doing it
