We have not returned Your manuscriptEditorial Note: “Manuscript” here is probably refers to work James Ackland had been doing for Mary Baker Eddy in printing her manuscript, Private Directions for Metaphysical Healing, or copying and proofreading for the third edition of Eddy’s book, Science and Health. The third edition was published on August 17, 1881. for the reason that we had been driven so hard in our other duties and labor on our bookEditorial Note: This is a reference to work on the third edition of Mary Baker Eddy’s book, Science and Health, which was published on August 17, 1881. and deferred going to the printers to have the notice of copyright inserted until last Saturday and when I went to get them I could not find them I have looked days for them but to no avail as yet we happened to have the three you sent us by letter and sent two of them as required by law to Washington the other one we have for a copy if rascals As Written: rascalls have not stole it since last Saturday which I think they have not though I greatly fear they have the one hundred and thought they had got them all

I shall give another search the whole house over As Written: ove as soon as I can be spared from our other work and if by legal search and in no other way I am able to find them I shall be obliged to have some more printed

Mrs. Eddy and I were As Written: wer about concluding as commenced writing this letter that under the circumstances we should not charge you anything more for your tuition and the lathe As Written: laithe we can fix it when we see you again I shall want the toolsEditorial Note: See 146.23.015 when you As Written: yo may be coming to Boston again You As Written: you will hear from me again when I shall have had another search. Mrs. Eddy joins in love to you
