Perhaps you are not aware that if I come to Boston, I have to with no one’s As Written: ones help but my own, it is a great undertaking to pay one hundred dollarsEditorial Note: $100.00 in 1883 is the equivalent of $2,669.22 in 2017., if not so, you would have never heard me ask for that or anything less. My folks have a little property but -- no ready money, and if they had, doubt if it would help me in this undertaking, although my Mother I have got her very much interested and I think will be in your class at some future time, I am a printer and work for a living every day, and there is but very few laboring men, with or without families who could ever raise one hundred dollars. It takes about all two hands can earn to live, Mrs. Eddy.

I can pay the one hundred dollars and have made arrangements for that and to take care of myself in Boston and Family at home, besides, which it is all that is possible for me to do, I will come for that and the money is ready if you agree upon the same,

Please not understand Mrs. Eddy, that I want to beat you down, or that I value the instruction less than full price, it is only what a man can do, and what he cannot do. Of course if I do not hear from you again, or from some one of your assistants, I shall have to consider silence a negative, and give it up, otherwise if I should hear from you that the price is agreed upon, I shall be with you on Dec. 26, at 10 am.

Yours Respectfully
A. B. Dorman
