Yours of Feb. 5"Editorial Note: This letter is not extant. received–
Words fail to express my contempt and righteous indignation for you and I am not alone, in feeling as I do over the awful wrongs that you have done and you alone are responsible, for and as your own letters prove to my devoted daughter Mrs. Choate. The entire community are stirred with disgust and indignation at your hypocrisy As Written: hypocrysy and double dealing and though you have the trick she has the honor.
Seven years of life, time, money, everything she has laid at your feet, and you in an hour of jealous rage in a masquerade of lace, purple velvet, and diamonds, think the world don't see you in your true light, but they do, and stale compliments don't repair these wrongs and wickedness at this late day, adding dishonor to profession as a Christian and Pastor of a Church, holding meetings to which I an honorable member am excluded, I thought when I joined you though warned by the oldest and best of your own students of the awakening As Written: awakaning to meet Christianity, but now the noblest and best Clara E. Choate of earth wronged beyond words or expression by you while she was ably defending and at work with her lofty trust and a character above suspicion, with a record of life, you own your curs, and lackeys at the College can prove, and I defy you to do it.
Thank God she has at last seen the truth that her Husband, Parents, friends, and your own Students have labored years to make her see. God and time will vindicate her and your vile insinuations told in secret and in disguise cannot prevent it - She has not had four Husbands and now angling for the fifth, but is at work healing the sick. The Students all have my pity and sympathy for perjuring their consciences As Written: consiences —
