Accession: 145.23.012
Editorial Title: James Monroe Letts to Clara E. Choate, July 26, 1879
Author: James Monroe Letts
Recipient: Clara E. Choate
Date: July 26, 1879
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by James Monroe Letts on lined paper from Dundee, New York.
Editorial Note: Letts tells Clara Choate that his rheumatism and asthma are gone but that he has constriction of the lungs and a cough. He also "takes cold" easily. He uses the "arguments" Choate sent him in giving himself Christian Science treatment. He knows that these problems are false beliefs and not realities, and yet they remain. If they are the result of mesmerism, why cannot that be overcome by Truth? He uses Choate's arguments against the mesmerists and calls some of them by name when giving treatment. A few days ago he received a kind letter from Miranda Rice.
