My Dear Teacher

In their anxiety to follow instructions, at the Editorial department of the bookEditorial Note: John Henry Barrows, The History of the World’s Parliament of Religions, 2 vols. (Chicago: Parliament Publishing Company, 1893)., they made the mistake of sending the proofs to you at BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts-

I had attached to the paperEditorial Note: This is referring to Mary Baker Eddy’s address, "Unity and Christian Science," which was read to the World's Parliament of Religions at The World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois.– the "Conditions" – in writing – one of which was that you should be furnished with a proof - and during the confusion– caused by the death of Dr Barrows son and the departure of Mr Pipe for Europe - they supposed the proof was to be sent to you instead of me-

One of the Editorial Corps is a Rev. Dr. Towne who used to be with "The University Press"— at CambridgeEditorial Note: Cambridge, Massachusetts and he thought that he knew that your address was at Boston -

I have a proof myself and am now going As Written: goig down to have about 40 Capitals added and correct, the words.

I can see plainly that a caricature of your portrait is a direct injury to the causeEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science. and it would be a positive wrong to permit such a blow -

I expect to get a proof of the photogravure As Written: photograveure plate, this morning -

Unless it is what it should be, namely an exact facsimile, I shall most surely reject it -

My sense of this whole effort is that so far as this age is concerned there is an identity between Christian Science and its Founder

They cannot be separated in human consciousness and have good results follow

The Message and the Messengers are so closely allied that human thought is safely poised only when it includes the delicate discernment of what "God's impartation to man" really means

Judge Hanna told me to employ an attorney and he has had personal interviews with the other publishers, and served legal notices - He will closely watch the whole matter -

They will not dare to publish the paper because they will be afraid that their books would be tied up by an injunction–

I understand that such of our denominational matter as they thought they could give room for is in the compositors hands & I expect to see the galley proof this morning -

I think it will be too late to make any changes - They are rushing things so as to get the work on the market.

I am going to the printers now - and will probably write to you later in the day

Lovingly-
E A Kimball

I have just come from Dr Barrows house- I am to see the Congress proofsEditorial Note: This is referring to extracts of the papers read by Eddy's students at the Christian Science Congress, held on September 20, 1893, as part of The World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois.- at 2 p.m and if I do not like the way they are condensed- they will change them- so as to correspond with your suggestion and the latest instructions from Boston also –
