My Beloved Teacher;

The only, and best method by which I can express my thanks to God, and you for all your patience, and watchfulness As Written: watchfullness of me and mine. is in works. Yet I cannot refrain from a few words in reply to yours of the 7thEditorial Note: This letter is not extant. with its expressions of encouragement, and tribute of esteem.

May I prove by my works, that I merit it all. I am glad you did send the other letter; it opened my sense of sin to a greater degree than ever before: Sin, this personal sense, must be rooted out in self; and it shall be, through Divine Science. If I could put into words the awakening to what it is to be a true ScientistEditorial Note: Christian Scientist, that your letter did accomplish; you would say it was God-directed. I can truly exclaim- so shall it be.

Our AEditorial Note: Possibly Jennie E. Sawyer is yet absent: she is greatly troubled, now may HeEditorial Note: God give me Wisdom, that on her return, I may speak the right words, to bring her into union with us. So doing, I can then go out. and work, safely leaving this "InstituteEditorial Note: Wisconsin Metaphysical Institute. to carry out the work begun. I shall cheerfully assist Mrs Lathrop, as soon as I hear from her; and can do so very conveniently, as our Statutes are similar to New YorkAs Written:N. Y. on incorporations. I want all of our Institutes to have the most perfect Charters; that in case our enemies should undertake to look into them, they will find no flawsAs Written:flaw's to make trouble with.

Shall I name them "Institutes," thus―

"New York Metaphysical Institute" or

"Christian Science Institute" of New YorkAs Written:N. Y." or

"Metaphysical Institute" of New YorkAs Written:N. Y."

Each State has its large City, so that I do not suppose there will be Institutes opened in the smaller places for some time; yet to distinguish I should prefer to provide for such probabilities, and not have our Institute names be confounded. Again we must have uniformity as typical of unison.

My own impression is taken from your suggestion, to hold to the name of and worded as our Wisconsin InstituteEditorial Note: Wisconsin Metaphysical Institute is.

Will write Mrs L. Sargent at once.
