Accession: 284.42.002
Editorial Title: James C. Howard to Mary Baker Eddy, August 15, 1880
Author: James C. Howard
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: August 15, 1880
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by James C. Howard from Boston, Massachusetts, on lined paper. The letter is signed "Ike" (Howard's nickname). In unknown handwriting on bottom of letter: "(Picture of Mr. Howard cut out and placed in Picture Collection)." A portion of the letter is missing where the picture was cut out. The letter also has "Howard" written in Mary Baker Eddy's handwriting.
Editorial Note: Howard is concerned about correspondence between himself and Mary Baker Eddy falling into the wrong hands. However, he also found that he accidentally mailed one of her letters back to her when he was sending some new correspondence. He says he has sent her some money belonging to her that he'd neglected to send. He explains that he did not send the last page of his previous letter to her (284.42.004) because he thought she might find it hurtful. Howard feels he is probably growing in Christian Science but is not sure. He mentions his wife, Sarah E. Howard, and he also appears to be trying to clear up some misunderstandings between himself, Mary Baker Eddy, and Asa Gilbert Eddy.
