My Dear Teacher

Your favor of yesterdayEditorial Note: This letter is not extant. is at hand. My experience is always the same– While I am uncovering the lies told about you– and am healing multitudes thereby— (for to see you right is to be healed)- aninal magnetism goads on the very one I am blessing to rush to you with all manner of evil reports about me– I know this is done innocently by some- who do not really want to harm me- like the Knapp'sEditorial Note: Ira O. Knapp and Flavia Stickney Knapp for instance– but where it is not done maliciously– I am so grossly misunderstood that I am shocked and horrified— at what is claimed my motives and words are— You told me what the enemy would argue to the studentsAs Written:students' — viz- that I was trying to lead— I believe I should have lost hope for a — while, but for that precious word of warning– But I never dreamedAs Written:dremd Miss Bartlett would so fall into the snare as to write those two dreadful letters to Mrs. Robinson about me. Of course I know Miss Bartlett was goaded on to this venomous attack upon me. because I had warned her of what I had seen done to her all last winter– I told Miss B. that a certain person claimed she could always manage Miss Bartlett even to making her neglect your orders - I told Miss Bartlett how I had seen this thing done- and how she had been a victim of manipulation I showed As Written: showd her how she was made to go to WorcesterEditorial Note: Worcester, Massachusetts after I was advertised to lecture there- and that the attempt was being made to take us from ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science and our Leader– and if that failed to set us against one another—

The Worcester plot failed simply because I dissolved it with Love- I went straight to Miss Bartlett- told her I was glad she did lecture there and hoped she would go again- You know I spoke of this to you- I will not quarrel – and I will not hold a sense that I can be injured.

Now I am away and the enemy has started a second plot— This time, it had got underwayAs Written:under way before I knew it, and because Miss B- wrote to Mrs. Robinson instead of straight to me as the Constitution demands, it has been harder for me to meet it— Mrs Eddy- I knowAs Written:knw who is doing this— It is not Miss Bartlett— It is not her students It is not the Knapps— The woman from whom I have suffered three years, is at work– I know her better than any student knows her- and I know how she works– Let me meet this hour alone with God— She hopes to make you a factor in this- and that you will side with Miss B. or me and thus incense the other—

I have blessed Miss B. in every step since I left home- SomedayAs Written:Some day she will see this- As a married woman I know wives and husbands have claims of error to meet which a single woman scarcely can comprehend- and while I deprecate passion because it is foreign to my nature and while my married life has been so sacred and refined– I do think there is a blindness on the part of the women whose husbands are not in sympathy with Science – which if not met- with affection instead of coldness will make the world mistake their motives – Men are not woman- and can't As Written: cant be driven– but they should As Written: shoud be so treated that they will not seek pleasure elsewhere than at home— as is at present being done.

There has been glorious work done in New HampshireAs Written:N. H. by the Knapps Miss Ellen Cross Miss Bartlett and Mrs. Robinson- But the poison has kept pace with the good– in claim– and I have done a work here which not one of these could do– This does not yet appear to the senses– but it will when the clouds roll by—

Mrs Choate lay two weeks sick at a Mt Hotel last summer– Under doctors and there are people here whom I have met who believe that she was Mrs Eddy! Do you know I see Richard Kennedy at last! He has had patients in LittletonEditorial Note: Littleton, New Hampshire and– My Teacher– the deepest– bitterest cup of poison ever As Written: evr drank in Littleton by any student has been drank by me– You know how vivid my experiences have always been– How I stand face to face with those who knew you in the past—

When I tell you what has happened you too will say– I belong to this hour- to vindicate God– as shown by you to the world — even to the bitter end.

With grateful love
