Editorial Title: Edward N. Harris to Mary Baker Eddy, July 25, 1883
Author: Edward N. Harris
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: July 25, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Edward N. Harris on embossed lined paper from Boston, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Harris is writing about money owed to Mary Baker Eddy as payment for class instruction in Christian Science (Harris and his wife, Mary E. Harris, studied with Eddy in January 1883). He asks that Eddy grant him more time to make the payment. He says that his wife was promised that she would do well financially as a Christian Science practitioner, but she has had few patients and has the added expense of having rented expensive rooms in anticipation of a busy practice. Clara E. Choate had even promised that she would send his wife patients, but, as far as they know, Choate has not sent even one. Harris' dental practice is not lucrative and the mesmerists are working to thwart them in many ways. He adds that he does not blame Eddy for any of this, and thanks her for her sermons and lectures and for the kindness and consideration she has shown him and his wife. Harris ends by saying that he hopes he can meet with Eddy soon as he wants to ask her advice and talk with her about some important matters.
