Accession: 553.58.008
Editorial Title: Ira B. Keith to Mary Baker Eddy, February 19, 1883
Author: Ira B. Keith
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: February 19, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Ira B. Keith on his printed stationery from Lynn, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Keith sends Mary Baker Eddy rent he has collected for her from Edwin Robbins. Robbins did not pay the full rent, but he thinks that Eddy would like to have the money now, so he is sending it now and hoping to collect the rest. He also remarks that he was sorry to hear that Abbie K. Whiting had passed on. He adds that they did not get the "papers" signed any too soon. The papers referred to are most likely related to 8 Broad Street. Whiting took "ownership" of 8 Broad Street from Dorcas Rawson on November 2, 1881, and Mary Baker Eddy took "ownership" back from Whiting on January 10, 1883, eleven days before Whiting died and just over a month before this letter was written. These transactions were for "one dollar and other valuable considerations," and were likely a move to distance Mary Baker Eddy from owning the property so that it could not be seized as part of a lawsuit.
