Mr Frye mislaid your letter so I did not get it till today!— M. A. M. of course. But I never have and never expect to find you anything but honest, frank and good. Mrs. Bell sent for her $1000Editorial Note: 1000.00 left in the hands of Mrs. Otis, and afterwards I learned that Mrs. O. had put the whole sum of $5000Editorial Note: 5000.00 entrusted to her for the purchasing of the land – into the hands of Mr. Bowers. The man who told me this, was Mr. Chesley and he added "I am afraid you will never get it out of his hands" I also had proven him dishonest in business. So I addressed myself to getting it away from him and succeeded. It was paid over to me but not a cent of interest on it. Then I put it in a safe Bank in Concord and the interest is to be added to the principal whenever it is called for by the owners of it. Or by their consent the land is purchased. As it now stands I am told they ask $2000Editorial Note: 2000.00 for 1/3 of an acre Almost five times as much as land bought here when I first bought my estate. Mrs. Bell called for her $1000 and I have paid it to her, and asked again what I shall do with the interest on it of about $40Editorial Note: 40.00 [*]Gap: letter.Reason: ink blot.ut she had told me once to purchase a piece of furniture with it for Mother's RoomEditorial Note: The Mother's Room was a room built for Mary Baker Eddy during the building of the Original Edifice of The Mother Church. Charlie gave the $1000 to me without trust saying "I give it to you to do as you think best with it" but I hold what remains of his only as a trust, all the same. May God bless you. And if the lot is not bought in front of me $1000 and the interest belongs to you, not me.
