Accession: 503.56.008
Editorial Title: Caroline Putnam to Mary Baker Eddy, June 16, 1881
Author: Caroline Putnam
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: June 16, 1881
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Caroline Putnam on lined paper from Boston Highlands, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Putnam writes that she is responding to a letter from Adelaide Draper inviting Putnam and her mother to join the Church the following Sunday. Putnam says that her mother will come and join, but she will not. Putnam goes on to explain her feeling that, in joining a church, members should unite and love one another, but Clara E. Choate seems to despise her. She adds that Choate has lied about some of her healing work. Putnam writes that she did not want to mention any of this to Eddy, but she felt she needed to in order to explain why she did not want to join the Church. She expresses her willingness to sing for Eddy or do anything else to please her, and she says she hopes to see Eddy soon.
