My dear Student

Your kind letter came to today and with it accept my thanks for your efforts to do good Jesus said "if ye love me keep my commandmentsJohn 14:15 ¶If ye love me, keep my commandments. " This is an hour of "the power of darknessLuke 22:52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? Luke 22:53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. " My husband had a letter today from Miss Brown that would surprise one. It commenced DrEditorial Note: Eddy did not have a medical degree, but in the nineteenth century, persons engaged in various “healing arts” were often called “doctor.” Eddy and then requested him to cure her when she has been yielding so long to the power of mesmerism and I think they really have made her believe that he was making her suffer. When the fact is he has not thought of her since she was here until her letter came to me a few days ago and then never to think of taking her up mentally. He has more than he can do, to do good and no time for trying to injure the weak. He would take her case if he had time but he has not

I hope dear student you will outlive the envy and hate engendered, and so live that if they say aught against you it will be false, and then blessed are ye when men shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for yours is the kingdom of heavenMatt 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matt 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Matt 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Think of what I have done for Howard and then think of how he and his wife is influencing Mrs. Newman to talk and lying about me without stint Then remember the servant is as his LordJohn 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
